Wrap for Running Time, detail
I spend a lot of time looking down, scanning the surfaces of pavement and my studio floor for evidence. I excavate, archive, and manipulate the detritus of daily life (pieces of foil pounded into sidewalk and marks from abandoned drawings) to create works that investigate the patterns of personal geography, real and imagined. In this body of work, I embrace the chaos and unpredictability that are inherent in abject materials, and utilize systematic gestures to establish order and readability. I am interested in the energies that hum and bend below the surface of things and making them visible through the creative process.
